
Dr. Lotano has provided medical eye care to Central Virginia for over 30 years. His extensive credentials include degrees from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and Albany College of Pharmacy, as well as a rotating internship completed at Albany Medical College. Dr. Lotano completed residency training in ophthalmology at McGuires Veterans Hospital at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Dr. Lotano is the Founder, Emeritus of Piedmont Eye Center and retired in June of 2007.

Dr. Vogel is Lynchburg’s only full-time retina specialist.
He completed his residency at the University of Virginia and received specialty training in the area of retinal and vitreous surgery at the University of Texas in Houston. As a board-certified retinal specialist, Dr. Vogel’s expertise includes treating patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, “floaters,” retinal detachments, and other retinal problems using some of the area’s most advanced technology available. |

Dr. Bowers received his medical training at Marshall University before completing an Internal Medicine residency through the West Virginia University program. He then went on to complete his ophthalmology training at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Dr. Bowers is board-certified and specializes in advanced cataract surgery using Premium lens implants, corneal transplantation, and is one of the area’s leading Intralase™ LASIK providers. Dr. Bowers is also active in ophthalmic medical missions providing eye care to indigent residents of Honduras.

Dr. Ganser is Lynchburg’s only board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist and also specializes in neuro-ophthlamology. She completed her extensive training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and received further specialty training in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. In addition to pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology, she also provides Botox® cosmetic treatment to patients . |

Dr. Ceballos is Lynchburg’s only glaucoma specialist. After completing her ophthalmology training at Emory University in Atlanta, she received subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Ceballos has published numerous scientific articles and has given presentations at regional and national meetings. In addition to the medical, laser, and surgical treatment of glaucoma, Dr. Ceballos also performs advanced cataract surgery using the latest techniques.

Dr. Moss specializes in advanced cataract surgery using the latest techniques available. He also provides medical and surgical management for a variety of eye diseases and performs routine eye exams. Dr. Moss received his medical education at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, and went on to fulfill an internship at Carilion Health System in Roanoke. Dr. Moss completed his ophthalmology training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA., and is certified by the Board of Ophthalmology.

Piedmont Eye Center is proud to introduce Dr. Gene Moss Jr to
the medical community. Gene specializes in treating diseases of
the cornea and also performs cataract surgery using the most
advanced methods available.
Dr. Moss received his medical degree from the University of
South Florida in Tampa and served a general surgery internship
and ophthalmology residency at the Medical University of South
Carolina in Charleston. Gene then completed a fellowship in
cornea and external disease at the Brandon Eye Clinic and
St. Luke’s Cataract and Laser Institute in Tampa, Florida. He has
been in private practice in the Charleston South Carolina area
since 2004 and assumed full-time duties with Piedmont Eye
Center in November 2009. Dr. Moss is board certified in
ophthalmology and is the twin brother of Dr. Saxton T. Moss. |
