Prior to creating the flap, the doctor applies drops to numb the eye, and then applies a special ring and an instrument that gently flattens your cornea in preparation for the IntraLase® laser to create the flap. This part of the process is not painful. Although it is normal to feel some pressure, the entire method takes about 20-30 seconds to create the flap so any pressure sensitivity is brief.
