My experience of having Laser Vision Correction was fantastic. Dr. Bowers and all his staff are so knowledgeable and professional, yet very personal, warm, caring, and friendly. From my first visit I felt like I was at home with family, especially on the day of my procedure. There was no pain during the surgery, just a little discomfort, but only for a few moments and the recovery time was unbelievable.
When I woke up the next morning it was such a blessing not to have to look for my glasses or put in my contacts. I usually read my Bible and do my devotions first thing each morning, and without even thinking about it, I reached for my Bible and began reading. It was truly amazing that my eye sight was so much better immediately after the procedure and it continued to improve within the next few weeks. Although I had worn glasses or contacts for over 20 years, I now forget I ever did and I feel so free and wonderful!
As a single woman who recently turned 60 years old, I am very active and involved with life, my ministry, and my two grandsons. God has been so good in providing me with good health, great friends, and a passion to share the love of Jesus with everyone I meet. I am a full-time Evangelist/Missionary here in the United States and the founder of WHEEL POWER Christian Cyclists, www.wheelpower.org. I travel extensively on bicycles, having pedaled 14 times across America on my bike spreading the Gospel message. I spend a lot of time outside in the sun and it used to pose several challenges for me wearing contacts or glasses, but now I can just put on my sunglasses and away I go! My job does involve a lot of computer work, since over 95% of our ministry contacts are via email and our website. The corrective surgery has even helped with my vision on the computer and for that I am truly thankful.
Another fun thing I do is compete in the Senior Olympics in basketball, table tennis, and bicycling in many states throughout our country. I have noticed that my vision is better since the mono-vision correction procedure and I can focus more easily than when I was wearing my contacts or glasses.
Since my Laser Eye Procedure, I find myself telling everyone about my success story and the great blessing it is to have a surgical team like Dr. Darin Bowers and his staff. Debbie and Shannon were most helpful in assisting with everything, from answering questions to offering encouragement. Overall, the surgery and benefits of having Laser Vision Correction are wonderful. I wonder why I didn't do it years ago. I encourage you to enjoy the freedom you can have by not wearing glasses or contacts and to experience the professional care and treatment you will receive from Dr. Bowers and the staff at Piedmont Eye Center in Lynchburg.
