Our passion at Piedmont Eye Center is helping our patients have the best vision possible, and our staff makes all the difference in achieving that goal. The staff member we’d like to introduce today is Brittany.
What is your role at Piedmont Eye Center?
I’m a COA for Dr Bowers’ clinical and LASIK team.
How long have you worked at Piedmont?
Since March 2015—going on six years.
What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing someone experience their newly corrected vision. Many people have always relied on glasses/contacts from the second they wake up in the morning until they go to bed at night.
I love to see them so excited when they come to their post-op the morning after surgery (LASIK or cataract) without their glasses on. I’ll never get tired of that feeling.
What is one thing you wish every patient knew?
To “listen” to their eyes. When things change with your eyes, address the problem instead of ignoring it; they’re trying to tell you something. I’d also like them to know that Piedmont Eye Center has doctors available 24/7, because I feel a large majority of people wait through the whole night or weekend thinking that we’re only available during normal business hours.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Refinishing furniture, any Pinterest DIY, spending time with my 13-year-old and two-year-old daughters, watching movies/documentaries, yard sales, doing crosswords.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?
A magic lamp with a genie that grants unlimited wishes. But realistically, a giant crate of sketch pads.
If money was not a concern what would you do every day if you didn’t work?
Sit on the beach (in San Diego) every evening and paint the sunset.
If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would it be?
My Grandma, who passed last year. She was the greatest woman I have ever known.
Coke or Pepsi? Coffee or tea?
Pepsi. Coffee.
Do you have any words of advice to share?
“Love the life you live, live the life you love.”
