We value our staff members at Piedmont Eye Center, and we want our patients to get to know them better! Each month, we introduce you to one of the people who keep our office going. Next in our “Meet the Staff” series is Rhonda. Get to know her!
What is your role at Piedmont Eye Center?
I am a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant for Dr. Javey. I have been with her since her first day with our practice. I am the person who calls patients when they miss their appointments and sends out letters to get in touch with them to ensure they are continuing the care that is needed for their eyes. I also take care of orders for the nursing homes.
How long have you worked at Piedmont?
I started at PEC in January of 2011.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is my patients! They are all so caring and always take the time to ask how I and my family are doing. It means so much that they remember certain things about me and are all so caring. I love being a part of their care.
What is one thing you wish every patient knew?
I wish every patient knew how much I appreciate that they remember my name and have a personal connection with me.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Well, I have seven grandchildren that keep me very busy, and my parents and I live together, so my free time is limited. But, I enjoy my time with them so much. Also, I have a standing “date” with my best friends on Saturday nights.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?
Sunscreen, because I am white as a ghost and burn!
If money was not a concern, what would you do every day if you didn’t work?
I would spend more time with my grandkids, children and family and I would travel more. I would love to go to Paris one day and to Alaska, as well as visit the Virgin Islands.
If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would it be?
Abraham Lincoln, man, I have lots of questions for him! I’ve always been interested in his life.
Coke or Pepsi? Coffee or Tea?
I’m from the era of peanuts in my Coke at the movies…never have liked Pepsi. And, I drink one cup of coffee every morning and sweet tea the rest of the time.
Do you have any words of advice to share?
Cherish your loved ones, tomorrow isn’t promised.
Careful how you judge people. We all have our own struggles, and you never know what someone is going through in their life on a day-to-day basis. Love each other.
