An animating principle of Dr. Joshua Barbosa’s life has been “Freely you have received, freely give”. After graduating from college, Joshua spent two years working at the Hamilton Regional Eye Institute. Here, he had the opportunity to work with patients in the capacity of an ophthalmic technician and research coordinator for the institution. Having been inspired after witnessing, first-hand, the life changing experience ophthalmic care can have on individual patient outcomes, Joshua went on to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at Wayne State University, followed by ophthalmology residency and an Anterior Segment Fellowship at Kresge Eye Institute.
Following training, Joshua and his family spent a couple of years at a mission hospital in Kenya caring for patients, assisting with administrative oversight as needed, and helping to equipe and train the next generation of practitioners there.
Joshua enjoys seeing the full spectrum of ophthalmology patients and considers it a blessing to be involved in the restoration of sight. In his spare time, Joshua enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children in addition to running.
