We value our staff members at Piedmont Eye Center, and we want our patients to get to know them better! Each month, we introduce you to one of the people who keep our office going. Next in our “Meet the Staff” series is Dana. Get to know her!
What is your role at Piedmont Eye Center?
When I started working at Piedmont Eye Center, I started at the check-in/check-out desk for my first 2 years then moved to the switchboard operator position. Later, I was asked to take over the Contact Lens Department where I still worked as a switchboard operator and maintained the contact lenses as well. I am now a new member to the Surgical Scheduling Department where I schedule surgeries, office procedures, injections and outside referrals for all nine of our Ophthalmologists.
How long have you worked at Piedmont?
12 years.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with the patients and seeing them smile when they leave my office.
What is one thing you wish every patient knew?
When you see a specialist, your appointment can take up to 2 hours and sometimes emergencies happen. We are working as hard as we can to take care of all our patients.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Going to the lake and spending time with family and friends.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?
A tent because I will need somewhere to sleep other than the sand and to keep away from bugs.
If money was not a concern, what would you do every day if you didn’t work?
I would like to travel the world, especially Italy. I have always wanted to go there ever since seeing the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun.
If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would it be?
My Dad, who passed away in 1977.
Coke or Pepsi? Coffee or Tea?
Diet Coke and Coffee is a must.
Do you have any words of advice to share?
Have courage and be kind. This is the best advice I have heard from a Disney movie.
