We value our staff members at Piedmont Eye Center, and we want our patients to get to know them better! Each month, we introduce you to one of the people who keep our office going. Next in our “Meet the Staff” series is Jennifer R. Get to know her below!
What is your role at Piedmont Eye Center?
I am a Surgical Coordinator. Our surgeons perform surgeries daily in multiple locations. I schedule these procedures for the patient as well as guide them through the surgical process. If they have questions about their pre-operative and post-operative care, I make sure their questions are answered. Surgery can be scary, and I am here to make sure the patients have someone they can call directly when they have questions or need someone to walk them through the process again.
How long have you worked at Piedmont?
26 years. When I started it was just a one doctor practice—with Dr. Lotano. I have seen all the current physicians come on board and all the changes as the years have gone by. I started out as a technician working up patients for the first ten years and then moved into a surgical coordinator position.
What do you love most about your job?
The patients, especially ones that I see on a regular basis and have gotten to know. I also enjoy being a part of caring for their eyes. I love learning new things as technology has advanced over the years.
What is one thing you wish every patient knew?
That the physicians and staff are dedicated to giving them the best eye care possible. Also, that all our physicians are very well trained in their specialties and keep up-to-date on new treatments and procedures.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Reading and family time.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing, what would it be?
The Bible.
If money was not a concern what would you do every day if you didn’t work?
Travel; I would love to go to Europe, specifically Ireland and Scotland.
Do you have any words of advice to share?
Try to always be joyful regardless of your circumstances.
