Piedmont Eye Center is excited to welcome Sam Winnegrad as our new Executive Administrator!
Sam joins us with more than 20 years of experience in ophthalmic care and a lifelong passion for helping patients see their best.
Throughout his career, Sam has led multi-location eye care practices, supporting his teams across clinical, optical, and surgical services. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations for University Eye Specialists in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he managed six locations and over 100 team members. His leadership helped expand telehealth access and launch programs that made care more convenient and personal for patients.

Sam is known for his ability to build strong, motivated teams and create environments where both staff and patients thrive. He’s also a dedicated educator and industry leader, serving on the Boards of Directors for the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and the National Academy of Opticianry, while also contributing to national publications.

When he’s not working to improve healthcare operations, Sam enjoys mentoring emerging professionals and sharing his knowledge through teaching and public speaking.
